Janaya & Matt :: 8-16-2014 :: Wedding in Long Beach

Janaya and Matt met in high school and have been together ever since! We started out their wedding day at The Pacific Inn where both Janaya and Matt were getting ready with their bridesmaids, groomsmen and families. Once again, my friend the wonderful Briana Rusk did the girls' hair and makeup (and did a wonderful job of course!) After everyone was ready to go, Janaya's girls helped her get into her gorgeous dress, veil and garter. Since the wedding would be on the sand, Janaya's grandma made foot jewelry for all the bridesmaids and family members to wear. There was a nice park across the street from the hotel where we first took some photos of the groom, groomsmen and family and bride, bridesmaids and family, keeping care to make sure Janaya and Matt didn't see each other before the ceremony. After those portraits were done, we all made out way to Granada Beach in Long Beach for the ceremony. The beach was packed with people that day due to a sand castle competition nearby, but that didn't diminish the feel of intimacy and joy as Janaya and Matt exchanged vows and rings. An especially sweet moment was when they gave a flower to each of their moms as a thank you. Once the ceremony was complete we took a few family, bridal party and newlywed portraits then it was time for the party to begin! Upon joyfully entering their reception, Janaya and Matt had their first dance and then spent some time greeting, talking and thanking each of their guests. After dinner and the father/daughter and mother/son dances, they did the traditional (and hilarious!) garter and bouquet tosses. Then it was cake time! Matt's sister made the two stunning cakes, a gorgeous three tier cake decorated with hand-painted sugar shells and a VW bus groom's cake. They were amazing! After some crazy-fun dancing, it was time to send off the new Mr. and Mrs. with some sparklers! Overall, it was such a beautiful day and a sweet wedding! :)
