Katherine & Andrew :: 8-22-14 :: Wedding in Laguna Hills

Katherine and Andrew's modern/vintage wedding was unique in so many ways! They had an all indoor wedding held at The Hills Hotel in Laguna Hills, a first for us! Andrew actually helped Katherine pick out her wedding dress! Despite this, their first look was super sweet and surprising, since it was the first time Andrew had seen the dress and accessories all together. Try this for unique: the best man wasn't a man! The best-woman was the groom's cousin, and they grew up together as best friends. We didn't take any getting ready shots as the main priority for this bride and groom was their guests and the details of the day. We spent our time before the ceremony capturing the first look, bridal party and family photos. The ceremony space was also very different – it was very narrow and long, which gave it a grand yet very intimate feel. During the ceremony, the bride and groom drank a mixture of red and white wine poured by their mothers, a similar tradition to unity sand. After the ceremony, we got to spend an hour with just the bride and groom documenting their details, exploring the hotel and taking some lovely romantic shots of the newlyweds. Then we returned for the cocktail hour, where we provided the favors for the guests! During the second half of cocktail hour, we took a photo of each family/group of friends with the bride and groom and then printed them out during the reception. Katherine and Andrew provided decorative photo sleeves (with a similar design to their art deco invitations) to give photos as gifts to each of their guests. Such a great idea! During the reception, the newlyweds danced their first dance, were toasted by their best-woman and maid of honor, and enjoyed a delicious meal. The hall was exquisitely decorated in gold, silver, and black, with submerged flowers and candles in the centerpieces. Their sweetheart table was decorated with folded paper swans and a sequined tablecloth. After the cake cutting, DJ Ian B got everyone on to the dance floor for a picture and then it was time for dancing and distributing the photo favors. Thank you SO much to the fabulous Allison Oh for the third shooting, polaroid taking and photo gift printing! She helped us out so much! :)

It was such a beautiful day and we are so honored to have been a part of it. Congrats to the new Mr. and Mrs. Huynh!!! :)
