Kathryn & Tracy :: 10-4-2014 :: Wedding in Placerville

Kathryn and Tracy are just simply wonderful! I attended college with Kathryn where she and I were art major buddies and I was so excited for her when she first told me she was dating Tracy. They are both NorCal natives, and we got to know Tracy and the two of them as a couple through several visits they made down here to Disneyland when they stayed at our house. After they had been dating for almost a year, Tracy asked my advice on what kind of ring to get for Kathryn and I helped him out with pictures of styles I knew she would love. They came down to Disneyland in May of last year and that is where he proposed! We met up with them for a few impromptu engagement photos and then they returned later in October for our formal engagement shoot. We then worked together on designing their stationery suite, including save the date and invitation :) For their wedding, Kathryn found an amazing venue called the Sequoia Mansion, located in Placerville, an old gold-rush town 40 miles east of Sacramento. The venue has a wonderful vintage feel which attracted Kathryn as she styled their wedding to be vintage, Victorian and with, of course, some touches of Disney (and a little Star Wars for Tracy)! Her Disney inspiration can be seen all the way from their invitations, to hidden Mickeys in her attire, and from the chalkboard props we made to the reception decorations, especially the cake! Our day started at the hotel (where we all stayed) for make-up (hair was already done earlier in the morning at House of Beaute) and then we made the quick trip over to the venue to get dressed. When it was time for the ceremony, the bridal party walked down the aisle to various Disney and Star Wars music and the groom and groomsmen were led down the aisle by the lightsaber-carrying nephew of the groom. After a beautiful ceremony, the guests retreated for cocktail hour while we took photos of the family, bridal party, and the new Mr. and Mrs.! The light was beautiful as the sun was just starting to set :) Once the newlyweds were announced and entered their reception through the tunnel of lightsabers, it was time for dinner, speeches, cake cutting, dancing and the garter toss. It was amazing how quickly the time went, everyone was having such a great time! We also took polaroids throughout the day at the wedding, which added an extra bit of vintage fun to our photos. It was such a delight and pleasure to be a part of this amazing day and we are so happy for our fantastic friends!
