Minimalist Constellation Inspiration at Hangar 21

Minimalist Constellation Inspiration at Hangar 21 Styled Shoot featured on The Perfect Palette

The stars and skies were our initial inspiration behind this celestial styled shoot. Hangar 21, a helicopter hangar turned event venue at the Fullerton Municipal Airport, was naturally the perfect venue, with a mission to provide a unique aviation experience to their couples. The hangar’s blank canvas of white walls and concrete floors furthered our aesthetic goal of blending constellation details with a clean, minimal color palette and styling while still evoking a warm and inviting undertone.  Marisa Peterson of Peterson Design and Photography and Jessica Foster of Jessica Foster Event Planning were seeking soft color pairings using shades of blue, pops of amber, and metallic gold, with geometric lines and patterns inspired by charts of the night sky.  We wanted to create inspiration for couples seeking a meaningful, elegant and minimalist aesthetic that would pair well with this amazing venue.

Contemporary structural designs and references to the sky and stars beyond were a unifying element throughout the shoot. The invitation suite by Willemina Typography featured cloud elements and the simple, elegant design featured her own style of modern calligraphy. Our bride Chandra (paired with her real life sweetheart CJ as the groom) was adorned by a custom designed pale blue dress by RMINE featuring elegant white lace that was reminiscent of Chinese line drawings of wind and fog. Her delicate earrings designed by Brook Corson featured a triangle design beneath two mysterious moonstones. Arianna of Drama 'n Glam Team created an effortless updo for our bride, which was embellished with handmade starburst hair pins from Blair Nadeu Bridal. CJ’s steel grey suit from Stitch and Tie fit our vision for his look: elegant, sophisticated and slightly vintage, with a dapper black silk bowtie. For our ceremony, Paper Moon Shoppe created a constellation contour line moon backdrop, which was adorned with vibrant greens and sat amid a bed of dried grasses, hydrangeas, and butterfly ranunculus, the brainchild of Katie of Going Steady Studios. Blue and grey smoke bombs signaled the end of the ceremony and floated across the moon as if it were set in the sky. After their ceremony, Chandra and CJ ventured up, up, and away into the clouds in one of the venue’s helicopters to share a few secret moments together as husband and wife.

Our newlyweds then returned to their reception and were greeted by a plush lounge from Sweet Salvage Vintage Rentals where they could take a few moments to relax and soak in the day. Gold, bold color and luxurious textures featured throughout the lounge added a relaxed, intimate and warm feel. Soft minimalist design paired with constellation charts was the focal point of our reception table featuring settings from Cherished Rentals and luxe velvet linens from La Tavola. The cake, courtesy of Big Sugar Cake Shop, featured a classic shape, an ombre sky tier displaying the phases of the moon, and constellation lines. The clean aesthetic of the cake paired wonderfully with the sumptuous desserts provided by Jay’s Catering, which evoked a sense of comfort food and a campfire-under-the-stars, with sumptuous chocolate macarons, mini s’mores, blueberry tarts, and mousse with gold leaf accents.

Our couple ended their night with setting sun and stars enveloped in their beauty and splendor.
