Stephen + Jared :: 10/3/21 :: Wedding in Los Angeles

Holy moly what an amazing day this was!

Like many couples, Stephen and Jared (of Showboy Bakeshop) had to postpone their 2020 wedding so we are overjoyed that they finally got to have their day! Invites by our dear friend Gilded Swan Paperie set the scene for the day-- a classy, black tie affair at the Ebell of Los Angeles with touches of gold stars and romantic old Hollywood.

Some fun things to note as you look through the gallery: these two are obsessed with Patti LuPone (what lover of Broadway isn't?) and so their amazing planner Holly Gray decided we should set up a little surprise for the grooms: throughout the day we snuck a cardboard cutout of Patti and took photos with her here and there so when looking back on the gallery, S+J would see that she was really with them the whole day! At the reception we did a Patti reveal and the grooms got to take some photos with her in the incredible Photo Booth by PaperMoon Shoppe. By the way, PaperMoon Shoppe also designed and created the ceremony set up as well as the reception stage, it was truly a monumental and incredible project!

Another fun thing to note: not all the couples portraits were taken on the actual wedding day! About a month before the wedding we met up with the grooms, their grooming team at Face It Sugar, their wonderful florist Flower Duet, and of course our dear friend Holly to capture the grooms in some areas of the venue that would be off limits on the wedding day. For the shoot we did photos of all their flat lays (invites and rings) and then with the grooms incorporated a bit of their engagement story with a Waitress playbill and pie-- these two got engaged after seeing the show pre-pandemic. We got to have a wonderful and creative time capturing so many more incredible photos that we wouldn't have time for on the actual day itself. And then when the time came for portraits on the day, we did a few more (but not too many!) because we knew we already had so many wonderful portraits ready to go. If you can, I highly recommend this to my couples! Not only was the shoot day so relaxed and fun, it made the wedding day photos a breeze! Thanks also to the incredible Julie Harris who created the extra glam look with the cape and epaulets.

The day itself was so much fun with a lighthearted (and quick!) ceremony right before the sunset, a cocktail hour with an epic champagne pour, wandering magicians who wowed all the guests with their slight of hand and mentalist illusions, an incredible meal prepared by the wonderful venue staff, live band and dancing (thanks to Luke Carlson and his team!) and fun late night snacks. We had such a blast at the #showboywedding and mega thanks again to this incredible team of vendors!
